Three-row family EV SUVs are a thinner market with less competition than EV trucks. R1S buyers also skew higher-income, less elastic to incentive cycles. The R1T competes against Lightning, Silverado EV, Cybertruck, and used Hummer EV — far more downward pricing pressure.
The R1S has held value materially better than the 2023-2024 Model X over the trailing 12 months — Model X is dealing with the post-Plaid pricing reset Tesla applied across the lineup. The R1S premium positioning has been more stable.
R2 is a smaller, cheaper vehicle — buyer-pool overlap with R1S is limited. R3 is even smaller. Neither directly cannibalizes three-row R1S demand.
