The LCI mid-cycle refresh launched in 2024; 2023 X5s are pre-refresh. That has been worth a 3-5% residual penalty since LCI inventory cleared at dealers. Most of that impact is already in the market.
xDrive40i trades 4-7% above sDrive40i at matched mileage. The premium reflects buyer preference, not running-cost differences. Selling sDrive40i in snow-belt regions is harder than in the Sun Belt where the rear-drive variant has equivalent demand.
Watch for the integrated starter-generator (ISG) noise complaints on 2022-2023 X5s. BMW has issued software updates that resolve most reported cases. Confirm at PPI that the latest IPMA software has been applied.
